Youth News

Wow, what a fantastic few weeks it has been for myself and the youth. If we haven't met yet, my name is Casey Stringer, and I'm the new Youth Minister here at Northwest, and I'm so glad to be here. For the last month and a half, the people of Northwest have showered me with kindness (not to mention gift cards), and I feel so welcome here. All I can say to each one of you is, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Now, on to the fun stuff. It's an exciting time for our teens in the youth group! For the past few weeks, we've been diving deep in our Bible classes, studying things like pridefulness and humility, prayer, and the real story of Jonah and the big fish. We've had several events where we've had tons of fun and gotten to know each other better. And now, believe it or not, we're already gearing up for summer! That's right, summer is just around the bend, and we've got some great things planned that anyone could be involved in, regardless of whether or not you have a teen in the youth ministry.

One particular opportunity I want you to know about is a summer missions experience we'll be offering to students and chaperones. As a group, we'll be partnering with an organization called City Service Mission to take part in their ongoing work in Nashville, TN. This experience will offer teens the chance to serve God in a new context and, hopefully, gain a passion for the kingdom of God in the process. If you're interested in this opportunity, I encourage you to come to our missions interest meeting Sunday, April 8th, where we'll discuss the trip in detail. And don't worry if you've never worked with the youth before because we need chaperones of all ages and life stages! More information on the interest meeting will follow.

Once again, I'm so thankful to be here in St. Petersburg and at Northwest. I look forward to getting to know you each individually. Make it a great month, and happy Easter!
