Encouragement from the Elders

Recently on a Sunday evening we had the opportunity to get to know our teens a little better and hear how Jesus impacts their lives through their involvement in the Youth Group. All of their comments showed how blessed we are to have this generation as part of the body at Northwest. One of the comments made was “because I’m sharpened by iron it really helps to have good supportive people around you all the time and someone who can definitely shape you and always help you”.

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17

When Christians are spending time with each other, there is incredible sharpening that occurs. We typically take on the actions and language of our environment. When you are surrounding yourself with other people who love Christ, there is a likelihood that you will become a better and stronger Christian. Showing love for one another, prayer for one another, singing and studying with one another, encouragement for one another and spending quality time together – we have opportunities available to sharpen each other. Sunday morning Bible classes, Worship Service, Sunday evening service, Wednesday evening classes, service projects, Life Groups and fellowship activities to name a few. We offer classes for new Christians and also have opportunities for individual Bible studies. You are invited and encouraged to connect.

How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! Psalm 133:1

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:24-25
