Do you ever get discouraged? Of course you do, because you are human. We all feel discouraged from time to time.
In the rough and challenging circumstances of this earthly life, we sometimes receive blows that leave us feeling defeated. During such times, we need reassurance from God and others so that we may remain faithful in “the good fight” and keep our eyes fixed on Jesus.
Challenges and difficulties are a part of life and words of encouragement can often help. How do we keep a positive outlook when we are going through tough times? Whatever setback you’ve been dealt, inspirational words of encouragement can help. The Bible is full of encouraging scriptures.
“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”
2 Timothy:1: 7
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13
“ Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua1:9
We can also receive encouragement from others. Northwest is full of encouragers. Many make it one of their missions to seek out individuals to encourage. We all go through failures, setbacks and challenges. The Bible tells us to encourage one another, to remind each other of the truth that God loves us, that we are treasured, that our struggles are worth it. Every believer needs the encouragement of others.
“Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” Proverbs 16:24
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
We hope you find comfort in God’s word and encouragement from others. The Elders are praying for each of you.
