Encouragement From the Elders

The year is more than half over – hard to believe – and our next mission effort is upon us in equipping school children with back packs and school supplies.  The Faith City desk area is your drop off site for any supplies you are willing to donate by August 11.  This is a great way to reach out to our community.

Our youth group just returned from a fulfilling Nashville mission trip providing outreach opportunities to the homeless. They have set examples for all of us in their     service to God’s kingdom. We appreciate Casey and Grace Ann along with Dustin and Gina Burtron coordinating this trip.  Our Honduras volunteers had a productive time near Tegucigalpa after 7-10 days of well drilling, construction, VBS, medical assistance and encouragement to the churches outside the city.  Another mission trip to    areas of poverty in the Bahamas is planned in just a few weeks.  We certainly appreciate the opportunity to work with University City and Donny Dillon on these mission      efforts.  Consider and plan to be a part of one of these mission trips next year – it will change your life!

Babies, babies, BABY!  They are everywhere and we are giving thanks and requesting your prayers for parents as they raise their children to be faithful servants of our lord Jesus.  Please continue your prayers for the Betts family as two week old Kaiden  continues to progress after surgery designed to create a diaphragm and allow normal air exchange.

Plans for life groups are in the works so we want to encourage everyone to join and participate in a group near you. Even better – host one!  It’s such a grand opportunity to develop deep relationships with the family at Northwest and a chance to encourage one another.

It is quite an honor and an amazing responsibility that we have direct access to the   Father through prayer.  Please be talking with Him daily as we have so many people dealing with serious medical problems.  There are also many who need our prayers for spiritual struggles and request your intercession on their behalf.  It is important to     realize that we live in a world that attempts to create fear in our lives.  Our Lord       reminds that perfect love casts out fear, and 2 Tim. 1:7 states that God did NOT give a spirit of fear but of power, love, and self-control.  Let’s be fearless as we walk in the light and do our best to share the wonderful gift of God’s love to everyone we see.
