Jim’s Thoughts

It was a sad day at the Northwest Church of Christ when Casey Stringer announced his resignation as Youth and Family Minister of the church. It was an emotional time not only for the youth group and their families, but also for the entire congregation as Casey is so loved by this church.

It was especially emotional for me as I worked with Casey for almost four of the five years he has served this church. We occupied offices next door to each other. When your office adjoins someone's office for a period of years, you get to know that person pretty well. Casey is the real deal. We shared our love of the Atlanta Braves and played on the Mules softball team together, but the relationship goes farther than that. We have shared fellowship in Christian ministry and have mutual respect for each other. Casey was not just a youth minister, but he served as a minister to all ages. His preaching is outstanding, and who can make announcements like Casey?

One of the benefits of being a friend of Casey is that I have gotten to know his wife Jenessa and his parents, Ed and Cindy Stringer. What wonderful people they are!

Casey, thank your for all you have done for our youth and particularly for my grandson Derek. And thank you for all you have done for the rest of the church in serving our Lord. May God bless you and Jenessa in this new chapter of your Christian journey. Love you, brother!
